On Saturday, August 21, Hoboe open for The Project Seven at 7 p.m. at Champions Sports Bar in Biddeford.  This will be Project Seven's first performance in almost a year and they will be presenting new songs.  It will also be Hoboe and Project Seven's third show together, and Hoboe's debut in Biddeford.

Hoboe are the world's premier rock oboe band, featuring the double-reed woodwind instrument as a central focal piece of the ensemble, and claiming to represent a "new rock paradigm."

HOBOE KICKS OFF NEW ALL-AGES CONCERT SERIES AT THE STATION

Celebrates Bassist's 1-Year Anniversary

Hoboe headline the first all-ages show at The Station (272 St. John St.) to happen in months on Sunday, August 15th (7 PM), kicking off a new concert series at the venue. They are joined by 3 other local Portland bands--Armstrong, The Skummymen and Bukura.

Hoboe are also throwing a "Paper Bass" celebration in honor of 19-year old bassist Ben Holt's 1-year anniversary with Hoboe. Holt's first show with Hoboe was at the Flask Lounge on August 12, 2009.


Hoboe are the world's premier rock oboe band, featuring the double-reed woodwind instrument as a central focal piece of the ensemble, and claiming to represent a "new rock paradigm."

Not easily married to a particular genre, Hoboe have been known to play on bills showcasing a diversity of sounds. For this event, they share the stage with alt-rockers Armstrong, punkers The Skummymen and heavy bluesmen Bukura. Admission is $10.

Hoboe, a new rock paradigm feature at their core an amplified oboe, a double-reed woodwind instrument backed by a genre-defying band consisting of Zen Ben (oboe, guitar, vocals), Thom Metz (guitar, vocals), Jon Bangs (drums, trumpet, vocals) and Ben Holt (bass).

Michigan indie band to play Slainte Thursday.

Portland, ME, USA April 26, 2010 -- Portland's rock oboe show Hoboe hosts indie band Loch Hame from Grand Haven, Michigan this Thursday night at Slainte Wine Bar and Lounge at 25 Preble St.

Loch Hame is nearing the end of a northeast tour with a show in Portland, Maine. They will also have played Manhattan, Brattleboro, VT, Philadelphia and Delaware in the previous week.

Zen Ben performs in The 2nd Annual 48 Hour Music Festival! 30 artists from different Portland bands of all genres will be randomly shuffled into 6 supergroups, announced on Thursday afternoon. From there, each band has exactly 48 hours to construct and practice a 25 minute set of material, culminating in this 9pm Saturday performance. This entirely new pool of local talent, featuring members of Hoboe, Batshelter, Brenda, Johnny Cremains, Mink Wilde and the Gentlemen Callers, Ocean, The Chickadees, Haru Bangs, Moneycastasia, Esperanza, An Evening With, Antiseptic, Cryptic Overcast, Marie Stella (and more!) will be tested by a need for teamwork and a couple of sleepless nights. If this plays out anything like the first 48 Hour Music Fest, they'll create one of the most exciting and creative nights of the year. Sponsored by D.L. Geary Brewing Co.
